  • James Gunn Officially Casts Lars Eidinger as Brainiac in ‘Superman: Man of Tomorrow’

James Gunn has just confirmed the actor cast as Brainiac in the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, in a Twitter announcement.

According to Gunn’s latest update, Lars Eidinger has been cast as the infamous Superman villain for the follow up to 2025’s first DCU Superman film. The character’s inclusion was all but officially confirmed for the film, with both The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez announcing the inclusion months ago and fans speculating who they’ve wanted to see in the role for some time now. As of today, we know that Eidinger will be facing off against David Corenswet as one of Superman’s most infamous villains to ever not be featured on the big screen yet. Gunn teased Brainiac news earlier today on threads, and within the last hour dropped the name of the actor to confirm the tease.

Eidinger is a German actor that has a number of films under his belt like The Light (2025), Dying (2024), and Persian Lessons (2020) and will now be adding a major superhero title to that resume. This is huge news for both the actor and the DCU as Brainiac has been one of the most wanted DC villains to appear in a film against Superman since Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel days. It will be interesting to see how Gunn handles the character in terms of CGI and story, but we will make sure to keep you updated as more information is sure to follow! Stay tuned for more!
