Actor Colman Domingo Spoke With Marvel About A Potential Role

Colman Domingo is an up and coming actor set to costar in Michael Jackson’s biopic, Michael, and will be working behind the camera as a writer and director for the Nat King Cole biopic. Those are some pretty prestigious accolades already for an actor who is as fresh to the scene as Domingo. On top of all that, he’s also already the voice of Norman Osbourne in Marvel’s upcoming cartoon for Disney+, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. So, can he make the jump into live action?

Maybe, but not quite yet.

‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ swings onto Disney+ January 29th, 2025

Domingo had a meeting with Marvel and spoke exclusively to ScreenGeek about the experience, recalling that he went in with an open mind and with the primary goal of opening engagement:

I have had a meeting with Marvel, yes. But it wasn’t specifically about anything. They literally sat down and said, “What do you want to do?” And I said, “I don’t know. What do you got for me?” So we’re having engagement, of course. Who would not want to be a part of the MCU? I just wouldn’t want it to be right. And something that is created for me and something where I feel like I can give something of myself to. So we’ll find out what that is. I don’t know what it is yet, but I’m patient.

It sounds like the wheels are in motion to get the actor to commit to a live action role, but as of right now your guess is as good as ours as to what role that would be. I would imagine they’d want to gauge reception for his animated role and possibly carry him over as Norman Osbourne for live action. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man looks like it could be a hit, but for now it’s all too early to tell as that character probably won’t be introduced into the MCU proper for quite a while still.

Who do you think Colman Domingo should play in the MCU, and what of his other work are you looking most forward to?
