Avengers Reserve Shop Debuts New Spider-Man Facade Statue Ahead of December 6th Grand Opening

The Avengers Reserve gift shop located in Downtown Disney at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA had been under construction for some time, with the construction walls coming down just a couple days ago to reveal the signature Spider-Man statue on the facade signage. The concept art showcased different characters like the Hulk and Captain Marvel, both of which (and more) will certainly have a presence, but Disney wisely decided to put their flagship Marvel character Spider-Man front and center.

The construction walls were removed for the stores soft opening on December 4th, two days before the December 6th grand opening to the public. According to the report from Disneyland News Today, to the left of the facade there are still construction walls up that are covering what was shown to be Hulk smashing through a wall of the shop in concept art. The shop itself is located in the Downtown Disney shopping district, located near the Downtown Disney LIVE! stage.

Visitors to the east coast Disney parks in Florida might be wondering where their Marvel characters are, but as of right now they’re all still at Universal, so if you want to see Spider-Man at a Disney park you’re going to want to make your way out to Avenger’s Campus in Disney’s California Adventure. Universal currently has theme park rights for a majority of the popular Marvel characters, which they’ve had since the opening of Islands of Adventure in the late 90’s. Universal has the rights to most Marvel characters in theme parks anywhere east of the Mississippi, while Disney has theme park character rights anywhere west of the Mississippi. Yes, that’s a real thing, and it’s baffling.

For now, you can find the Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind in Epcot and various other Avengers themed merchandise sprinkled throughout the parks, or you can go to the Superhero Headquarters in Disney Springs – the Marvel themed store that just doesn’t use the Marvel name. To see the rest of the mainline MCU characters, Spider-Man included, you’ll have to trek it out to California.
