Normally I don’t post rumors about the MCU because let’s be honest, for every true rumor you find there around 15 blatant lies started somewhere on reddit. You have to be very careful with rumor mills these days. However, when I see a rumor as large as this from a source that maintains credibility like The Wrap then I am compelled to share. According to a new report from the entertainment outlet, Chris Evans will be returning for Avengers Doomsday in an unconfirmed role. Although, this report was kind of on the short side so I am taking it with a huge grain of salt.
The last time we saw the actor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was not too long ago in Deadpool and Wolverine, as the original big screen Johnny Storm from the 2005 Fantastic Four movie. Evans even admitted that he used the movie as an excuse to swear a lot, and also his character ended up a big pile of guts goo, so I don’t think we will be seeing him reprise that specific role. Chances are if he comes back, it will be as the original Captain America, Steve Rogers.
So far, little else is known about Avengers Doomsday as it was decided on rather recently to replace the cancelled Avenger’s Kang Dynasty. We do know that if Evans comes back, it will be alongside MCU alum Robert Downy Jr. as it has already confirmed he will be returning as the next big bad, Dr. Doom. This will be the third time Doom has been done in a Fantastic Four movie, so it will be interesting to see how the company that created the character translates him to the big screen.
Reports are also claiming Anthony Mackie has signed on as well, but let’s be honest, he’s Captain America so a blind wombat probably could have predicted that one. I can’t find any legitimate information on this so I am holding off on reporting more on that for now. There are no more details on either rumor at this point. Make sure to keep checking back as we will continue to bring you updates if we hear anything else.
