A new movie coming to the Star Wars universe starring Daisy Ridley as Rey has fans asking if there has been any sort of movement on the project since it was announced. While Star Wars: New Jedi Order is still in flux the actress seems hopeful that it will become a reality. The movie was announced at last year’s Star Wars Celebration, but since then nothing else has been said about the Rey-centric project.
There was a fear that the movie was going to be cancelled, but in a recent interview with CityAM the actress sounded very sure that they were still set to go:
“But on this one I’m aware of the route development. It’s also really nice to know that we have the time to do it right, and of course I’m really excited to film and I’m really excited to share developments with the world. It’s all good, it really is!”
Ridley mentions having conversations with Kathleen Kennedy [producer] and directors Rian Johnson and JJ Abrams, and that she is actively involved in the development of the eventual movie alongside Lucasfilms. With Skeleton Crew airing soon on Disney+ and new rumors of a new Simon Kinberg-led Star Wars trilogy, it wouldn’t be surprising to see more solo spin off films reminiscent of Rogue One or Han Solo.
The New Jedi Order would feature Rey and chronicle her adventures post-Skywalker Saga, 15 yeas later. Make sure to read the full interview with CityAM, Ridley talks quite a bit about her acting and her work behind the camera outside of the Star Wars realm (Via ComicBookResources).
