Disney movies are not complete without a catchy soundtrack, proven by movies like Frozen and Moana all the way back to Aladdin and the Lion King. The newest movie from Walt Disney Studios, Mufasa: The Lion King, which will server as a prequel to the hit Lion King live action remake from 2019. The songs in the remake were all rehashed from the original film for the most part, but all the music in this installment will be brand new. The most exiting part is that the music is being done by Lin-Manuel Miranda from Moana, Encanto, and most famously Hamilton. Meaning the music in this movie should end up being pretty memorable.
The full soundtrack comes out on Spotify on December 13th, but to tide us over until then Disney has released a new video from the movie giving us a taste of one of the new songs, I Always Wanted a Brother. I can’t post it here for copywrite reasons but you can check it out on their Instagram here.
The full track title list looks like this:
Ngomso
Milele
I Always Wanted a Brother
Bye Bye
We Go Together
Tell Me It’s You
Brother Betrayed
Mufasa is an all original prequel storyline that tells the story of an orphan cub, Mufasa, who meets Taka and their adventure. It’s told in flashbacks by Rafiki (with commentary from Timon and Pumba) so I’m sure it’ll be a good time.
Mufasa stars Aaron Pierre as Mufasa, Donald Glover as Simba, John Kani as Rafiki, and Blue Ivey Carter as Kiara just to name a few. Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen will also be reprising their memorable roles as Timon and Pumbaa. The film comes to theaters on December 20th, are you looking forward to the Lion King prequel?
