As 2024 starts to wind down, Marvel trailers and promos will begin to increase as we’re getting closer to Captain America Brave New World in March, the THUNDERBOLTS* in May, and Fantastic Four First Steps in July. First up is the new Captain America, and as expected we just got another promo trailer today courtesy of Microsoft.
Microsoft’s YouTube page released a new “Wingman” promo that pretty much served as a full trailer with some of the new content it contained. Check it out here:
Actor Danny Ramirez was introduced as Joaquin Torres in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Solider, and while Sam Wilson became the new Captain America, Torres was also upgraded to the new Falcon by the end of the series. He already acted as a sidekick to Sam Wilson’s Falcon throughout most of his Disney+ debut, so it makes sense they would carry him over into the movie. The series didn’t show us anything having to do with the character’s suited up look as the new Falcon, but this trailer changes all that.
In this trailer, we see Joaquin designing his new green (previously seen in past images) tinted suit crisscrossing Sam in the air as they both can fly, which is vastly different from the previous Cap/Falcon dynamic where Cap was just Cap and Falcon was the only one with wings. The promo then shows the character using his Microsoft co-pilot computer, which was going to be in there somewhere as that’s what this promo is actually an ad for. Anyway, the trailer shows Joaquin acting as the “man in the chair” for Sam as he watches a fight scene from previous trailers. It looks like this part isn’t actually in the movie and was only filmed for the commercial, but I could be mistaken about that.
By the end of the trailer, the new Falcon has decided on green and we get to see his first computer designs of the suit. And then a couple quick glimpses of scenes we’ve seen in other trailers, and that’s it. Not a ton of new footage but cool nonetheless.
So far, we have Cap and Falcon taking on the Red Hulk, the Leader, and Sidewinder, so this is looking to be a pretty stacked movie. It’ll be interesting to see if this new installment in the Captain America franchise will live up to the past movies success, but judging by the trailers and promos so far I’m hopeful.
