If What If…? has proven anything, it’s that live action is not the only thing Marvel can do well. Following season three of What If…?, Marvel’s next animated project is the highly anticipated Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and while we’re still just over a month from the premier we still haven’t gotten a ton of promo information. We knew some details about the show and have seen very limited animation previews but nothing that really makes the show stand apart yet.
Over the weekend, some of the first promotional images for the show popped up on X and while three of the images just gave us a new look at the standard suit we’ve already seen, the forth also gave us a first look at the white and black Oscorp variant suit. Spider-Man has become known for his variant suits thanks primarily to the PlayStation games, but they have popped up in other media and this show will be no exception.
The promo images are all ‘suit ideas’ from Peter Parker. There is the white and black Oscorp suit on the left, a standard Spider-Man suit in the center, and on the right is what will be his original homemade suit. A lot of these follow beats from past Spider-Man iterations, most recently the Tom Holland trilogy from the MCU that features a homemade suit in Homecoming, the stealth suit in Far From Home, and the Iron Spider suit from Infinity War. Since this show is exploring the heroes origin, we most likely won’t be getting an Iron Spider suit anytime soon, but it’s still cool to see them utilizing some of the other variant suits this quickly.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will premier at the end of next month on January 29th, 2025. The show follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming a hero, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots. It will join the ranks of other animated Marvel shows like the X-Men ’97 revival and What If…?, and I would assume we will be getting a trailer after What if…? season three premiers on the 22nd of this month. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a trailer by the end of the year.
