The Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four Collide in New Promo Art for ‘Doomsday’

If the unavoidable arrival of Doom isn’t enough for the MCU to deal with, new promo art for the film is suggesting that the featured teams of heroes will also be clashing with one another.

New promo art for the year end 2026 film has surfaced online giving fans a look at some of the main characters and teasing what might be one of the main plot points for the majority of the film. Three images were released, two are animated versions of some of the live action heroes and the third is a better look at how we can expect Robert Downy Jr.’s Doom to look:

The first is probably the least interesting, considering we already have a pretty good idea of how Doom will look in the film. This image does however give us a better idea of how the mask will look and the details that went into the design. By now most fans know what Doom will look like in the film, but if there was still any doubt that the MCU version will be terrifying then this should put those thoughts to rest. The next two images, however, are much more interesting:

This image also gives us a better look at Doom’s design, although it is a cartoon version of the character. The real substance comes from the characters featured encircling the villain. The image also includes animated images of The Thing, Sam Wilson’s Captain America, Thor, Yelena Belova, and X-Men’s Cyclops. Three of these characters were already featured in the trailers that came out late last year with The Thing, Thor, and Cyclops already confirmed to play major roles based on their inclusion in the trailers. Sam Wilson’s Captain America comes as a surprise though, considering the aforementioned trailer featured as Captain America, but the original Steve Rogers and not the Sam Wilson version. This leads me to believe that Sam will in fact be the main Captain America in this film with Steve Rogers acting in more of an advisory role, and Yelena Belova was already confirmed to be in the film but so far not much in a promotional sense has been shown involving her.

My theory is that the pictures gives representation to every major team that will be a focus in Doomsday: The Thing represents Fantastic 4, Sam Wilson represents the more modern Avengers team, Thor representing the old school Avengers, Cyclops representing the X-Men, and Yelena Belova representing the Thunderbolts/New Avengers. This is just my best guess, but it seems like the teams will be clashing in the film and if this image didn’t give it away the next (and most interesting in my opinion) is almost a dead giveaway:

This third image features the logos of the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and the X-Men all colliding. It’s been known that the plot will feature multiple teams will be coming together to try and figure out how to stop the incursions taking place throughout the multiverse, but it looks like there may be some conflict between the teams first. Or, even more thought provoking, the three logos represent the three universes colliding together at the end of the film to create Doom’s Battleworld. The New Avengers, the old school Avengers, and the more modern version of the original Avengers team are all from the same Earth, so the Avengers logo seems to represent all the Avengers subsets.

It’s thought that Doomsday will retell the comic story-arc Time Runs Out, where multiple Earths collide to form Battleworld in Secret Wars and this image points directly to that happening in the film. The more I think about it, the more I think the image probably represents the latter – the Earths of the respective teams colliding rather then the image representing actual conflict between the teams. Even if there is initial conflict, the heroes will all need to learn how to come together to try and stop the impending Doom. For now, let the theories run wild! Hopefully we start to see more cool promo art like this as December begins to get closer.
