Aside from Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel fans also have Spider-Man Brand New Day to look forward to. Even if the movie won’t be on the scale of an Avengers film, it will still pack its fair share of a punch with characters like the Hulk, the Punisher, and if new rumors are accurate then possibly even Jean Grey from the X-Men.

There are a few things we know here to be true: 1) Sadie Sink has a role in Spider-Man Brand New Day, 2) the X-Men will play a part of Avengers: Doomsday and are slowly being introduced into the MCU and 3) Damage Control has been confirmed to be returning to the movie and will play a large part. With all of this in mind, a few rumors on Twitter came to my attention and I couldn’t help think that they rumors/theories/whatever you want to call them might be based on some level of truth.

While this could easily be a well circulated rumor, everything seems to add up and makes sense. Jean Grey is a major name in the X-Men lore and including her would really satisfy a lot of Marvel fans waiting for more mutants after Deadpool and Wolverine. The DODC (Department of Damage Control) also has a major role in the film and we know this because actor Tramell Tillman has been cast as the lead of the department and it’s already been reported numerous times that they will be tracking Sadie Sink’s character as she is supposedly playing a rogue metahuman, or maybe a mutant? All the pieces are there.

The other part of this rumor I find interesting, but also believable, it that she will be protected by the Punisher, ultimately making him an employee of the DODC. Ever since Jon Bernthal was even just rumored to be in the film, I have been racking my brain on how he and Spider-Man would feasibly even cross paths in the first place. This rumor satisfies that question, but it also leaves open the question of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and how he will play into the story. At the end of the day, could it end up being Jean Grey who saves both Spider-Man and the Punisher from a rampaging Savage Hulk? I guess for now we can only speculate.

We’ve already seen a few mutants in the MCU, but I think it is about time we introduce a major name like Jean Grey since Doomsday will be the next official Marvel release and the X-Men are said to play a significant role. Marvel also needs to begin assembling their own versions of these characters as they can’t (or at least probably won’t) rely on the majority of the original actors aside from the largest of names such as Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and possibly even James Marsden’s Cyclops if other rumors I’ve been seeing today have any accuracy to them. I think for this fact alone, it makes sense that such a large name like Sadie Sink would be playing a major character like Jean Grey, and since Sink is on the younger side it would give Marvel quite a while to include the character in future projects, which she inevitably will be if that is in fact the role she is playing.
