With Doomsday slowing creeping up on Marvel fans, we now only have about seven months until the next Avengers movie hits theaters and right around now is the perfect time to really starting digging into rumored plot theories and details.
Alex Perez from the Cosmic Circus is known for his Q&A’s pertaining to the MCU and once again the scooper went ahead and posted what seems to be a plethora of new information regarding both Doomsday and Secret Wars, leaving fans guessing what some of his cryptic answers might mean for the films. In this particular Q&A, the focus was 100% Doomsday and Secret Wars and for this article we are going to be focusing on a couple points pertaining solely to Doomsday. A lot of the information in this particular Q&A was much more vague than a lot of Perez’s typical answers, but we were still able to find some solid talking points to relay to those looking to find information about the upcoming film without being completely spoiled.
Just to reiterate, these are theories and rumors and nothing we are about to talk about has been confirmed yet.
To begin, one of Perez’s followers asked them about a particular Deadpool and Wolverine theory pertaining to the new MCU X-Men. Apparently there is a theory out there that the film will begin with D&P locating other X-Men from throughout the multiverse, which I have to admit I have not heard myself yet before this report, but regardless Perez answered the question by vaguely explaining which universe the new MCU X-Men might come from.

Nngala: Hey Alex and Lizzie! Thanks for doing these Q&A’s. I have two questions. If the rumors about the opening of Doomsday are true, then this leaves me with a lot of questions. Are the X-Men we see in Doomsday from Deadpool and Wolverine’s universe, or will they not explain how Deadpool and Wolverine came in contact with this group of X-Men? Seems like a pretty big plot hole if not.
Alex Perez: Interesting point, but allow me to retort. Wolverine and Deadpool are from two different universes and ended up together by the end along with X-23 and no one seems to bat an eye. Also, we’re quite literally at the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and most of the multiverse is dead except for a handful of universes because the laws of physics and stability are going haywire and out the window. Let the chaos fly.
The initial question mentions the D&W theory, and basically asks where the new X-Men will be coming from. If this fan theory ends up being true, then for now I think that Perez makes sense that it is too hard to pinpoint exactly where this new group of mutants will be coming from given the amalgam of different X-Men universes introduced in Deadpool and Wolverine. Both main characters are from different universes, and with everything that has taken place over the last few years given messiness of the multiverse saga, it seems as if this new group of X-Men could potentially be from anywhere. We have Deadpool’s original Fox universe, Wolverine’s universe where all of his friends were killed, Gambits universe, and whatever universe this version of X-23 was from (we can assume this is the same X-23 we saw in Logan, making her from Deadpool’s universe given the introduction to D&W, but nobody has 100% come out and confirmed that).
So, with that being said, “let the chaos fly” may just be the right answer to this situation. By the time of Doomsday, pretty much everything has already been broken, so this new group of mutants could potentially be from anywhere. In my opinion, this is a good thing, because it gives the Marvel writers almost a clean slate to create from, as long as the narrative remains consistent from this point forward. Will we be receiving another amalgam team of X-Men, or will the new MCU mutants already be a fully fledged team that has been working together for years? For now, it’s hard to know for sure, but for where we are within the MCU this could give the writers a saving grace to create the next few sagas on a much more stable and solid narrative moving forward. Keep in mind, this whole thing depends on the D&W intro theory being true first, which to be honest I’m still skeptical of because this is the first time I’ve personally heard that theory so I will be keeping my eyes open for more reports out there that can help confirm or deny this information.

PokeHarsha5506: Hello Alex! Hope you are doing well, bud! Can you tease us with something you’re really excited to see in Doomsday and Secret Wars that a lot of people don’t know about?
Alex Perez: Even though he’s not in either movie, He Who Remains won. And we’ll leave it at that.
This one comes as a bit of a shocker to me because even though it’s been announced that Jonathan Majors might be coming back as Kang in some capacity, making him the overarching winner of Doomsday and Secret Wars seems like a stretch unless there are some major revels coming that none of us were expecting. While I do agree that He Who Remains was dictating the sacred timeline (which was revealed in Loki) I think making him the “winner” of the Doomsday Saga is somewhat short sighted and sloppy writing. I really hope this isn’t the route they go. The Kang Dynasty Avengers film was replaced for a reason, so to go back to almost combining those two story lines goes almost directly against why they decided to do Doomsday and Secret Wars in the first place, at least from my perspective. Also, without having He Who Remains in either film but still making him the winner also doesn’t really make sense because Loki is the only character from the upcoming films who ever actually interacted with that version of Kang making the entire thing inconsequential to everyone except him. It just doesn’t make a ton sense no matter which direction you try to look at it from.

I’m very worried that Doomsday and Secret Wars might be way too reminiscent of Infinity War and Endgame from a thematic standpoint, and this isn’t helping. One of the defining plot points of those two films were the snap and the resurrection of everyone, and it Marvel decides to do something like this again for Doomsday and Secret Wars I will be genuinely concerned for their level of creativity over in their writing room. I’m not going to comment more on this one because it’s honestly way too vague to have any real meaning and I don’t want to sound negative so without more context I don’t feel right having any sort of reaction to it. I like the idea of Doomsday leading into Battleworld in Secret Wars, but to have the story trope of “bringing back a bunch of dead heroes from the first film” just doesn’t gel well with me because well… they already did that. I am going to hole out hope though that the writing will be a little better than that and that these films won’t just be a rehash of something the MCU has already done.
For now, those are the only points from the Q&A I wanted to talk about. There is some more interesting stuff to check out in the article pertaining to Magneto, the Void, and Ghost Rider (to name a few) but nothing Earth shattering or particularly overly interesting. This isn’t bad though, because I appreciate the attention to not spoiling these films. I would honestly be more upset opening a Q&A to someone directly spoiling plot points of the film, so at least these give us loose claims to form our on theories about. Make sure to check out the original article for the rest of Q&A pertaining to Doomsday and Secret Wars! Only seven-ish months until we get to see the next Avengers film in theaters for ourselves which isn’t too far away, right?
