Spider-Man: Brand New Day is coming out July 31st and with that, the internet is buzzing with rumors about what we can expect from one of the most secretive Marvel films in years.
Twitter was rife with rumors regarding Brand New Day today, nothing mind blowing but smaller details that can help us pinpoint exactly where this movie is going. According to different accounts, both the runtime has been revealed and the release date of the second trailer. There is also a new rumor about who the main villain is (or in this case, isn’t?) and the first images of Sadie Sink’s mystery character have also surfaced. Let’s go over all these rumors quickly:

The first rumor out there is that the official runtime for the film has been revealed. According to a couple different rumor outlets, the presumed time of the film will be two hours and twenty two minutes. There’s nothing mind blowing about this and it was all but assumed this is around where the film would land in terms of length. Anything shorter than this wouldn’t be enough to pack in all the characters promised to us in this film, but any longer would most likely lead to an overbloated situation. This clocks in at about 15-20 minutes longer than Homecoming and Far From Home, while still being just a couple minutes shorter than its predecessor, No Way Home. This tracks in my opinion and seems to be in the perfect sweet spot for where a Spider-Man film needs to be. Google has the film length as two hours and twenty five minutes while the Twitter rumors say twenty two minutes, and anything around that mark give or take a couple minutes is exactly where it needs to be.

Next on the agenda is the rumored release date for the second trailer of the film, which according to scooper Daniel Richtman should be on June 17th. I originally predicted we could see it before Masters of the Universe based on the Korean rating board providing a rating for the new trailer and the timing of the situation, but I had made a mistake not realizing the film was an Amazon/MGM film and Sony was only responsible for the international rollout, which majorly changes that prediction. Not to mention I saw the film myself so I can say first hand there was no Spider-Man trailer attached, we now have a new date to watch out for in just a couple weeks. There are no related movies that I can think of releasing on that date, so if it ends up being true we’re in for what will most likely be an online exclusive release. The movie premiers in less than two months, so even if this isn’t accurate the second trailer has to release soon either way because there isn’t exactly a lot of time left until the premier.
The third rumor I want to address is that many Twitter users are reporting that Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk is not going to be the main villain of the film. I for one was never expecting him to be anyway, but apparently some people out there were thinking that since Marvel has not released any information on who to expect in that role it would be a surprise twist and we’d see Savage Hulk as the main antagonist. A couple thing – Banner isn’t a bad guy, and even a bad Bruce Banner (in my opinion) could never truly be the main villain to Spider-Man, even if he doesn’t quite remember who he is. Also, they did the Red Hulk as a villain in the last Captain America movie and we all saw how that panned out (not great).
Lastly, I have seen a couple accounts post images of the first look at Sadie Sink’s mystery character in the film alongside the Punisher. I for one am not going to repost these as I’m not convinced they are not AI creations, as they look legitimate but they’re being shared from a couple accounts I’ve never heard of before and have never really provided this type of information in the past. If they end up being real, she honestly looks great and is most likely Jean Grey being chased by the Department of Damage Control with Frank Castle essentially acting as her bodyguard, but all of this is nothing more than personal speculation. If you want to see these images for yourself, search X because they are definitely on there – I just can’t personally verify the validity.
So that is all we have for now, and we will make sure to report more as solid, confirmed information begins to surface as the film’s theatrical release date gets closer. Marvel and Sony are doing something noticeably different with the marketing for this movie, so it will be interesting to see if all this anticipation build up ends up being hype-worthy in the end. For the last film in the MCU before Doomsday in December, we’re expecting some major reveals and tie-ins to the next Avengers film, but for now we just have to wait patiently.
