  • ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’: Enforcers Team Revealed & Joe Keery Responds to Green Goblin Rumors

With this summer’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day inching closer, the rumor mill is going full force with new potential information dropped about the film itself as well as the future of one very important character to the franchise.

Revealed by scooped Daniel Richtman (@DanielRPK) earlier this week and expanded on yesterday, the team the Enforcers might be making an appearance in Brand New Day and the potential roster could include characters Fancy Dan, Fredrick Foswell, Ox, and Montana. Recent independent rumors about villains appearing in the film that nobody has guessed yet have culminated in the Enforcers reveal, and while the team is a classic adversary of both Spider-Man and Daredevil it makes sense why nobody had guessed their appearance due to the fact they are decently deep cut lore.

The Enforcers are a villainous team that have been in both Spider-Man and Daredevil comics since the 60’s

The Enforcers have been around since the 60’s, appearing in both Spider-Man and Daredevil comics and are a group of hit-men that have teamed up with other classic Spider-Man villains such as Sandman, Norman Osborn, and Kingpin over the years. Each member has expertise in a different weapon and combat style, and would serve as a great first act adversary for Brand-New Day. Fancy Dan uses martial arts, Ox uses brute strength, Montana is an expert with a lasso, and Fredrick Foswell aka Big Man will most likely end up as the group’s leader.

In other news, it was reported around a month ago that Stranger Things alum Joe Keery is being eyed for a role with Marvel and since then fans have been vocal about seeing the actor join the franchise as Peter Parker’s best friend turned villain, Harry Osborn aka the Green Goblin. As it stands, this is nothing more than hopeful fan-casting but the actor himself had mentioned interest in joining the Spider-Man franchise and his age puts him right around the perfect demographic to play Osborn. In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Keery was asked about the idea of playing Norman Osborn to which he didn’t say yes or no but made it sound like he was definitely on board with the idea:

Stranger Things alum Joe Keery has been rumored for a role in the MCU since last summer

Joe Keery: I guess you just keep your eyes open, and you read a ton and just hope for the best, I guess. [But] sure. Come on. Where’s the script? Let’s go.

While it seems like it’s probably too late to add the actor in such a prominent role for this summers Brand New Day, there is a good chance this won’t be the last Tom Holland led Spider-Man film, giving Keery a ton of time to eventually slide into the role in one of the next films. With Peter Parker has already taken on the Willem Dafoe version of Norman Osborn, the hero has not yet come across his own universe’s Osborn or his son Harry, which for a Spider-Man franchise kind of has to happen eventually. For now, we don’t know who Keery will be playing in the MCU if he ever does get picked up by the film studio, but like Keery has said in the past about the fan-casting as Harry Osborn, “it’s fun to entertain”.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day stars alums Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Michael Mando returning as the Scorpion, and newcomers Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Marvin ‘Krondon’ Jones III as Tombstone, and Sadie Sink in an undisclosed roll among others. The film is set to be released in theaters this summer on July 31st! Are you excited for the next installment in the Spider-Man franchise? Make sure to let us know below in the comments!
