  • New ‘Supergirl’ Teaser Helps to Put David Corenswet’s Superman Appearance in Context

A new 60 second teaser for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has been revealed today which originated on TBS last night. The teaser initially leaked online but as of today has surfaced in much higher quality. The majority of the footage has already appeared in previously released teasers and trailers, but one scene stood out as we got to see more of David Corenswet’s Superman and how his character will be further utilized for the upcoming DC film.

Last week, we got to see a trailer that included a glimpse of Corenswet’s Superman in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow confirming his (already assumed) appearance in the film, but this latest trailer expands on his first appearance and gives fans a little more of what we can expect with his role in the film. Check out the new trailer below:

Our first look at Milly Alcock’s Kara Zor-El was in her cousin’s first film, 2025’s Superman from James Gunn. Near then end of the film, Supergirl makes her appearance coming to the Fortress of Solitude to retrieve her dog, Krypto. Between the films, it seems one of Gunn’s goals in establishing the foundation of Superman and Supergirl’s relationship and how the pair are slowly forming the backbone of the newly established DCU. Now we get to see how Corenswet’s Superman will return the favor by appearing in his cousin’s first film, and this latest trailer give us context into how Kal-El served as the inspiration for Kara in using her powers to help save people.

In the trailer last week, we got a quick look at Superman confirming his appearance in the film. This latest trailer shows Kal-El actually handing his cousin her first super suit, which can be seen around the 45 second mark. The scene is quick and doesn’t do anything to spoil the narrative but adds to what we can expect from the film, and gives us much better insight into how Kal-El helped to guide his super-powered cousin. From here, Milly Alcock has been confirmed to once again be appearing in Corenswet’s Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, giving fans a continuing dichotomy between the two cousins. It’s been previously confined by Alcock that the film will server as a journey for Kara Zor-El and won’t show her wearing the suit nearly as much as Superman did in his film, but will be the payoff for fans wanting to see the evolution of the clearly flawed Kara Zor-El.

The new trailer (or TV spot, considering it’s mostly a rehash of a lot of footage we’ve already seen) did expand a little on some of Kara’s combat scenes and gives us a little bit more footage of Jason Momoa’s Lobo in action, which at the end of the day is what DC movies really are about. Superman was raised by loving parents on Earth and Supergirl was raised pretty much in cynical isolation, so to see the two help each other grow based on their own differing personal experiences with basically the same powers will serve to help carry the narrative, and while the scene in this TV spot was only a couple seconds it helps to solidify the groundwork and foundation of the two heroes and how we can expect to see their stories continue to intersect in context of the newly established DCU.

Supergirl comes out less than one month from today on June 26th, and while ticket sales are reportedly being delayed I’m sure they will be on sale very soon and in more than enough time to purchase them for the premier.
